In conversation with Maik Christoph Moltmann, Revenue Manager of SICON Hospitality
Please introduce yourself briefly and tell us what makes your hotel or host role stand out.
I am a Cluster Revenue Manager at SICON Hospitality GmbH. Our company currently operates 5 houses in Hamburg with over 710 apartments and 1 house in Kassel with currently 25 apartments. The offer is varied from budget apartments to high-class living for short-stay stays of 1 night to long-term stays of half a year and longer. Our guests have various backgrounds for their trip. Be it for tourism, work, as a student, because of a move to Hamburg or even just as a temporary alternative to your own home in Hamburg. This combination and our wide range of offerings make SICON Hospitality very interesting for our guests and extremely exciting for us as a team.
Did you or how did you do revenue management before you switched to happyhotel?
SICON Hospitality is still a young company. The individual houses in Hamburg, the sylc. Apartment hotel, Hood House, Apartment040, HUB-Apartments and Freytag as well as our Hood House in Kassel were combined under the umbrella brand. Previously, the companies carried out revenue management individually and in some cases with comprehensive support. With the founding of our service company, revenue management was centralized and uniformly structured.
Why did you choose Happyhotel?
happyhotel was one of many products, which we analysed and tested during the selection process. Our goal was to find a system that would allow us to represent the variety of houses and apartments we offer at an appropriate price-performance ratio and to easily control the prices. happyhotel proved to be a favorite in our comparison, tests and discussions about development opportunities.
What do you like best about Happyhotel? Which function feels like saving you the most time?
It is ideal for us that Happyhotel is a young company, just like us. The team is extremely committed, easy to reach and the support is very fast. The best function is, of course, the Auto-Pilot, which can be started individually for each house after a certain phase of the controlled setup of the system. From day one, price control 365 days in advance was easier than manual control via the PMS itself. By activating the Auto-Pilot, the time saved is several hours per week. Time is money ;-)
Have you already made any noticeable additional sales and if so, by what percentage have you been able to increase your turnover through happyhotel?
Billing is always done at the end :-) We've only been working with Happyhotel for a few months. The situation and demand on the market are constantly changing in the current times and are subject to more influences than ever before. It is therefore still difficult to give correct figures. But what I can say unequivocally is that thanks to happyhotel, we react more quickly to various situations with necessary price adjustments and therefore definitely have no omissions on days when demand is suddenly high. In this respect, I can already say at this point that Happyhotel is profitable for us.
